PSYC 1101 Assignments:
During the semester you will participate in several exercises that will help to personalize and apply the some of the information that we will be discussing. These may include surveys, experiments, demonstrations, quizzes, response or summary papers, etc. These may be assigned to do during class or may be assigned during class to be turned in on line or in the next class. The assignments will not be announced in advance. If you are absent on the day the activity is assigned, you may make up the assignment for ½ the credit (unless it is an excused absence as discussed under the attendance section of this syllabus), There will be approximately 15 assignments (one for each week of class worth up to 20 points each) given. Your grade is based on turning in 12 assignments for a total of up to 240 points. If you turn in more than 12 of the assignments during the semester, I will give you credit for the 12 with the best scores.
Assignment # 1: assigned: January 7 due: January 16
After reading the class syllabus, please copy and paste the syllabus acknowledegement into a word document, sign, scan, and send a copy which contains your name in the document file name to Mr. Roop at [email protected] by Wednesday January 16
Assignment # 2: assigned: January 23 due: January 28
Go to section 1 of PSYC 1101 on PSYC DWEEB and take the Hemispheric preference test. Calculate your quadrant and hemispheric scores and send the results through my north georgia email by Monday, January 28
Assignment # 3: assigned: Feb 6 due: Feb 13
Go to section 1 and take the OEM_EIS test to see where you fall in Marcia's identity statuses. Use the score sheet to calculate your final scores, then e-mail me ([email protected]) a copy of your score sheet or your totals for each column by the beginning of class on Wed. Feb 13 . Keep a record of your scores for yourself too so we can talk about what the scores mean on that Tuesday.
Assignment # 4: assigned and completed in class 2/20
If you missed class, ask a friend to time you and complete the memory strategy test found under section 2 of PSYC 1101 on PSYC DWEEB. Scan the entire activity and e-mail it to me or bring a hard copy to me by the beginning of class on 2/25.
Assignment # 5: assigned 2/27 due: 3/4
Complete the Classical Conditioning exercise under Section 2 on PSYC DWEEB. E-mail or turn in the exercise to me by the beginning of class on Monday, March 4. Keep a copy of the answers so we can review them at the beginning of class as you will have similar questions on the next test.

Take the Multiple Intelligences Test found under Section 3 on PSYC DWEEB to see where you rank on Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences. Upon completing the test, copy and e-mail the results to me by the beginning of
class on Wed. March 13.
Assignment # 7: assigned and completed in class March 11
If you missed class for this assignment, ask someone to time you for 4 minutes (total) and list 6
alternative uses for a book, a bed sheet, and a wire coat hangar other than what
they are normally used for to test you ideational fluency. E-mail me or
turn in the list to me by the beginning of class on Wed. March 13.

If you missed class for this assignment, go to section 3 of PSYC 1101 on PSYC DWEEB and open the file entitled The Great Turtle Race. Using the information provided, tell me the order that the turtles placed in and which side of town each turtle lived. You can write this down or e-mail me your answers by the beginning of class on Monday March 25 for partial credit.
If turning in the following 4 assignments by e-mail, please submit each in a SEPARATE e-mail as a word document with your last name as part of the file name.

Take the Defense Mechanism's quiz found under Section 3. Send or turn in a copy of the answer sheet (only) by the beginning of class on Wednesday April 3.Keep the quiz and bring it to class that day and we will review the
answers to be sure you have an understanding of the examples as there will be possibly be similar questions on our next test.
Assignment # 14: Big Five Personality Test: assigned 4/3 due: 4/10
Go to the web link for the "Big 5" personality test under section 3 of PSYC 2103 on PSYC DWEEB
and take the test. (Be aware that the test will ask you some general demographic questions because the site is set up to be used for research purposes. All info is confidential). E-mail a copy of your test to Mr. Roop by the beginning of class on Thursday March 28. (Be aware that your test results will be 10+ pages in length, and that you will need to save it onto your desktop or on a jump drive. Instructions on how to save the file is at the end of the test. If you do not save it you will not be able to access it again on the web site but will have to retake it)

Take the OC trait test found under PSYC 1101 Section 4 on PSYC DWEEB tosee how obsessive-compulsive you
are. E-mail me your score and your comment as to whether you think it is a good judge of your OCness and why or why not by the beginning of class on Wednesday April 17. ***Please note that this is not a test as to whether or not you have Obessive-Compulsive Disorder. It is only an indicator of traits!****

Take the Attitudes and Behavior test below. E-mail me a copy of your completed test by the beginning of class on Wednesday April 24. We will discuss the test and its purpose in class on April 24.
